What I Was Feeling....When Daisy Had an Affair

Gatsby, you will regret having an affair with my wife.

The day I found out that Daisy was having an affair with Gatsby was one of the worst days of my life. Gatsby???? Really? Out of all people?! How could she betray me like that? How dare he come into my house with Nick and be all over my wife the second I walk out of a room. And the looks they gave each other when they spoke, my god! It was like they had been in love for years. That made me sick. The emotions rolling through my head are insane. I am furious for a minute, relax a little, and then become so upset that I almost cry. Oh and the next time I see Gatsby or even hear the name Gatsby, I will get my revenge. How dare a bootlegger like him come into my life and try to steal my wife away from me. You know, I did some research on that guy. What a gangster he is! That makes me even more furious! Some gangster is trying to take my wife away from me. Oh, I am so mad. But also so terribly sad. I thought that my wife was in love with me and that I was the only man that she could ever love. I have trouble admitting this to myself, but I was jealous. Of Gatsby! Of all the people in the world. I was jealous of a criminal who attempted to take my wife away from me. At times when I think about it, I almost don’t blame her for having an affair. I am rarely home, and when I am home, I am usually hosting a dinner party with guests. But I will not let my jealousy of Gatsby take over my life. I will be happy again, Daisy and I will love each other and be content with our lives together. For now, all I know is that Gatsby should be very cautious and sleep with one eye open. I am a very rich and powerful man who can do awful things to an individual.

  1. Tom, you need to look at the whole picture here. I think it was wrong of Daisy to go and start an affair with Gatsby, but then again you are a cheater. Daisy is a sweet, beautiful, and amazing girl. She deserves to have all your focus on her and not on any other woman. You have been having affairs with woman for so long. I think you finally got a taste of your own medicine and didn't like it. If you really loved her you would have never cheated on her with other women. She was loyal from the start and you had been betraying her for so long. Like I said I don't think it was right for Daisy to stoop to your level, but she was at her breaking point. If you really love her over all those other women it is time to wake up and show her. Stop being a cheater and be the man she needs you to be!

  2. Tom,
I know this is a hard situation to be in, but you have to think about both sides. Yes, Daisy may be cheating on you with Gatsby, but you are also cheating on her with Myrtle. Even if Gatsby may have a shady past, he does love Daisy and he wants to treat her well. It is very hard to accept something like this, but do you think that you and Daisy were truly "in love"? Maybe both of you need to talk about your situations and figure out what is right.

  3. Tom,
Just let Daisy go, she is happier with me. She does not want to be with someone of the likes of you. You do not deserve her, and she does not deserve to be with a cheating, lying, hollow shell of a coward like yourself. Just deal with the fact that I make Daisy happier then she ever was with you. She will leave you for me, I know it, and you should realize it too.

  4. Tom, you are a fool. A real life, genuine fool. You say it seems as if your wife and Gatsby had been in love for years, when in fact, they have been. Their love was established long before you were in the picture. What you have witnessed is the rekindling of their undying love for each other. Now how does that make you feel? You say sick, betrayed, furious... Well, Tom, everyone knows about you and your little 'mistress.' Even your own WIFE knows about her. Yes, and how do you think she has felt about that situation. Most likely betrayed.. very angry, of course.. and probably a little, oh I don't know, sick? Yes, you my friend, are a hypocrite and I can't stand to have sight of you when I think of my dear friend Daisy. Watch your own actions. And think about this... perhaps if you were not having an affair, your wife would not be compelled to have one either.

  5. Tom,

Daisy had loved me since we met and she will never stop. She is only with you for your money, not because she loves you. Daisy and I are meant to be together. You are not right for her, I am. After all, you're cheating on her with Myrtle. She doesn't deserve to be treated like that. Daisy deserves more.
